NYSE and NYSE Amex Production Test Symbols

Effective Thursday, July 29, the NYSE will begin supporting the use of production test symbols through the Common Customer Gateways (CCGs) from the Mahwah Data Center.

Once testing is arranged though the NYSE’s Connectivity group, the CCGs in Mahwah will accept order flow in four test symbols during normal trading hours. Firms will be able to send day orders, cancels, cancel/replaces, cancel with leaves and receive Acks reports, Replaced and UROUT messages. These test symbols will not be supported for orders routed to BBSS, Arca or Matchpoint, nor will orders or reports be sent to CCG Drop Copies, SPAR Drop Copies, Post Trade/Comparison and after hours outputs.

Post Trade customer Connectivity Test with New Data Center - 6/12/10

As previously announced in Post Trade circular PT #167, on Saturday, June 12, 2010, the NYSE will provide customers with the opportunity to perform connectivity testing to the New Data Center for the various Post Trade products and services. The test will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Saturday. Customers must register in advance to participate in this test. On the day of the test, customers requiring support can call the Service Center at 1-866-873-7422.

Post Trade customer connectivity test to New Data Center on 06/12/10

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, the NYSE and NYSE Amex Cash Market will provide customers with the opportunity to perform connectivity testing to the New Data Center for the various Post Trade products and services. Customers can leverage existing IP addresses to access the new data center for Post Trade products and services, and will not have to make any changes. Four- and Five-Character Symbol Update

Routing to NYSE MatchPointSM via the NYSE Common Customer Gateway

In the 4th quarter timeframe the NYSE will support routing directly to NYSE MatchPoint, an electronic exchange facility that matches aggregated orders at predetermined times, via the NYSE Common Customer Gateway (CCG). This will allow any Member direct access to the NYSE MatchPoint facility via their current CCG connections in addition to accessing via an NYSE Arca FIX connection. Member Firms are being advised in advance in order to take advantage of this new service.

Expanded Activity ID Notice

Now that CCG has fully rolled out on the NYSE, firms can take advantage of the new Expanded Activity ID service. This service allows firms to take in execution reports without receiving duplicate activity ID numbers. Please be advised that this is a subscription based service. When firms are ready to support the expanded activity ID in the required Tags, please contact the Connectivity Helpdesk at 1-888-689-7739 or send an email to support@nyx.com to activate this service. The NYSE is planning on decommissioning the current 9 digit activity id on March 30, 2010. Please review the work needed to accomplish this by that date.

Four and Five Character Symbol Trading (Update)

Four and Five Character Symbol Trading

On December 2, 2008, the NYSE announced that in accord with the November 2008 SEC decision to have uniform symbology across exchanges, the NYSE would offer firms the ability to test four and five-character symbols at the NYSE (see the December 2, 2008 Trader Update). Effective Monday May 4, 2009, four symbols will trade on the NYSE as 4-character root symbols. Participants should ensure that their systems are prepared to handle these symbols.

Decommissioning of CMS Update

As previously communicated in prior client notices, the NYSE has completed its transition of Cash Equity order flow from CMS to CCG. Additionally, with the successful migration of NYSE Amex Options to the NYSE Arca trading platform, CMS will no longer be used for Options order flow. Effective start of business Monday, March 23, 2009 all CMS connections currently enabled for order flow will be decommissioned. Firms should ensure that their job streams are updated to reflect these changes and that their systems are not impacted.

Direct Routing to NYSE e-Broker™ Handheld

26 Feb 2009

Today, all orders intended for the NYSE Broker Handheld (e-Broker™) on the NYSE trading floor must be routed through the Exchange’s order management system, NYSE BBSS®. Pending SEC approval, the NYSE will introduce a new service to allow orders to be routed directly to a Brokers wireless handheld device on the Trading Floor. This optional service will provide customers with greater choice, flexibility and redundancy when routing orders to a floor broker through the Common Customer Gateway (CCG).

See the attached NYSE Trading Technology Information Memo for additional information specifying FIX protocol changes that will support this new routing capability as well as additional details about the features and enhancements in the NYSE combined broker systems accompanying this new service. An NYSE Trader Update Notice will be sent once the anticipated SEC approval is received.

CCG Connectivity Update

As previously communicated in a prior client notice on November 21, 2008, the New York Stock Exchange will complete a reduction in CMS capacity by 50% effective for the beginning of trading on Thursday December 11, 2008. The Exchange now has over 70 firms connected to CCG and now receives approximately 90% of our daily order traffic through CCG connections.

Four- and Five-Character Symbol Test

On November 6, 2008, the SEC adopted a plan that will establish a uniform system for the selection and reservation of securities symbols. The result of this plan, which will become active 60 days from the above date, will mean that the allocation and use of symbols can be from one to five characters in length across all SROs. What this means for the New York Stock Exchange is the potential for NYSE Listed Companies to have a four- or five-character symbol as their ticker identifiers.

CCG Connectivity Update

CCG connectivity into the New York Stock Exchange continues to grow since our last client communication on September 29, 2008. We now have over 65 connected firms and continue to receive more than 78-80% of our daily order traffic through CCG. With the continued growth of CCG and as previously mentioned in the last client communication, where the Exchange announced a 33% reduction to CMS, the NYSE has a plan in place to reduce the current capacity in CMS by 50% on December 5, 2008. We will continue to further reduce capacity in CMS on a scheduled basis, until the full decommission of CMS is completed.

CMS Broadcast Messages to be provided by NYSE Trader Updates & NYSE System Status

In order to better serve our customers, the NYSE System Status & NYSE Trader Updates messaging platform was recently enhanced with several new features. We have added a subscription manager on nyse.com which allows for all our customers to customize their subscription preferences by opting in and out of individual categories of messages; more detailed subject lines for easy identification of content in emails and RSS feeds, and finally better views of all types of messages on nyse.com through the addition of category filtering.

CCG Enhancements Release 2.1

As previously reported CMS will be decommissioned December 31st, 2008, and new CMS lines will no longer be accepted after October 3rd, 2008. One of the last CMS releases is targeted for cutover on October 7th, 2008. In fact CCG handles over 100 million orders and reports daily accounting for nearly 75% of all NYSE traffic. The next CCG software release is scheduled for cutover on November 3rd, 2008. NYSE Euronext (NYX) Completes Acquisition of the American Stock Exchange

Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE) update for 09/11/08

Effective immediately, consistent with the guidelines under the NYSE Sub-penny Trading Rule, orders in Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE) common will be routed to NYSE Arca with NYSE Arca pricing applied. Please be advised that both FNM and FRE continue to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Please also be advised that the FNM and FRE preferreds continue to be listed and traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Contingency Trading Exercise now Scheduled for 10/25/08

The NYSE is postponing the previously announced industry wide contingency trading test, which was originally planned for August 9, 2008. This was to be a comprehensive test, allowing participants to test all components of continency trading, however we determined that many firms were not yet ready to do this by the original test date. To allow firms more time to prepare, the August 9th contingency exercise will be delayed until October 25th. Details about this test will be sent out about a month prior to the test.

NYSE CMS and CCG Routing Rules Reminder

NYSE Member Firms routing orders via CMS or CCG for NYSE Arca primary securities, ETFs, and NYSE listed Subpenny halted securities will be routed directly to NYSE Arca. This routing rule will also apply to orders entered with NYSE booth “Agency” designations. Booth directed orders will only be accepted into NYSE BBSS for stocks actively trading at the NYSE.

Enhanced NYSE Business Continuity Plan retires Contingency Trading Floor

In an effort to provide firms with updated and expanded business recovery capabilities, NYSE Euronext will retire our Contingency Trading Floor and instead will request, that in the event of a BCP scenario, firms redirect their order flow to the NYSE Arca trading platform. All firms that are currently connected directly to NYSE Arca or have access through a current NYSE Arca ETP (Electronic Trading Permit) holder will continue to have access to the NYSE Arca platform.

NYSE On-Line Comparison System (NYSE OCS®) Migration Effective on 04/18/08

Effective with activity as of Friday, April 18, 2008, the Shared Data Center will migrate the NYSE On-Line Comparison System (NYSE OCS®) off of the current mainframe platform on to a distributed server platform. All Clearing Firms and Service Bureaus that interact with the NYSE OCS® (for either the Equity Comparison product or the Step-Out Service) via MQM or OCS Screen entry are advised of this change.

Upcoming CMS Release Will Provide DBK Link ID on All Execution Reports

End of Daylight Savings Time

Amendment to NYSE Rule 18

23 Oct 2007

The NYSE has amended NYSE Rule 18 (“Compensation in Relation to Exchange System Failure”) to reduce the dollar amount required in order for a member organization to seek compensation in the event of an Exchange System failure. Effective October 23, 2007, the minimum dollar amount is now $500, reduced from $5,000.

Continued Reductions in NYSE Trading Systems Latency

In the 1st half of 2007 the NYSE implemented systems and infrastructure changes that reduced order flow latency within NYSE Trading Systems from approximately 290 milliseconds to approximately 10 milliseconds. As part of the NYSE’s continuing commitment to reduce latency for all messaging, order flow and executions, the next system enhancement will be the implementation of a Common Customer Gateway (CCG) for interfacing to the NYSE Trading Systems, currently scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2007. This announcement provides an overview of the CCG and of the current rollout schedule, as well as an FAQ covering key aspects of the project.
