Update: NYSE and NYSE Amex Sell Short Processing – New FAQs and revised test script

In support of the deployment of Sell Short Restriction (SSR) logic, the NYSE and NYSE Amex will support a third industry test in the production environment on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Similar to the industry tests on February 12 and 19, scripted SSR messaging and demonstration of new short sale restrictions in targeted symbols will be supported over production Proprietary Data Product and Consolidated Tape and Consolidated Quote IPs.

Update: Sell Short Restriction Industry Testing on 2/19/11

On Saturday, February 19, 2011, the NYSE and NYSE Amex supported production Sell Short Restriction industry testing. Please find an annotated script, with detailed timeline, in the document linked below.

Additionally, the User Acceptance Test (UAT) environment has been upgraded to support Sell Short Restriction functionality, including acceptance of Sell Short Exempt orders and Bid Test/Price Filing. To coordinate testing in the UAT environment, please contact the Firm Testing Group at firmtesting@nyx.com or 888.689.7739 option 2.

Sell Short Restriction Industry Testing on 2/19/11

In support of the deployment of Sell Short Restriction (SSR) logic, the NYSE and NYSE Amex will support a second industry test in the production environment on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Similar to the industry test on February 12, scripted SSR messaging and demonstration of new short sale restrictions in targeted symbols will be supported over production Proprietary Data Product and Consolidated Tape and Consolidated Quote IPs. As stated in prior notices, we will also be supporting a production SSR test on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Update: NYSE and NYSE Amex Sell Short Processing – New FAQs and revised test script

The NYSE and NYSE Amex have updated their FAQs on Short Sale processing and have added several scenarios to their test script for the Short Sale industry test on February 12, 2011 to reflect the SEC’s exemptive relief under Reg SHO to use a reference price other than the current national best bid for short sale orders executed in single-price auction transactions when the short sale restriction is in effect.

On February 11, 2011 a New Open Order file will be available via Autoroute (Product ID 06240620) for Firm testing. The new Open Order file will contain a complete listing of all open GTC orders as well as current day Corporate actions.

Update: NYSE and NYSE Amex Sell Short Processing

The SEC has granted the NYSE /NYSE Amex relief under Reg SHO to use a reference price other than the current national best bid for short sale orders executed in single-price auction transactions when the short sale restriction is in effect. Short sale orders will be filed as follows for single-price auction transactions:

  • Opening – one minimum price increment above the national best bid at 9:30 am. (Where there is no national best bid at 9:30 am, short sale limit orders for the opening will be filed at their limit prices). Filing prices will be disseminated on both the NYSE and NYSE Amex Imbalances feed. See link for detailed: NYSE Order Imbalances Client specification
