NYSE Euronext to Commemorate 9/11 with Moment of Silence

09 Sep 2010

Before the trading day begins tomorrow, September 10, 2010, the New York Stock Exchange community will observe a one-minute moment of silence in remembrance of the NYSE members and the thousands of others who lost their lives on 9/11. The moment of silence will begin with a single stroke of the NYSE bell at 9:25 a.m.

Following the moment of silence, officials from The September Concert Foundation, the organizer of an annual music festival in memory of the people lost on 9/11, will ring the Opening Bell. The concerts, first held in New York in 2002, now take place in cities worldwide.

The NYSE will close its day of remembrance with representatives from Voices of September 11th (VOICES) ringing the Closing Bell. Founded in 2001, VOICES is a nationally recognized organization that provides support services to people impacted by the 9/11 attacks, commemorates lives and stories, and advocates for reforms to protect the nation.
