NYSE Next-Generation Market Model Launching on 10/27/08

The NYSE announced today that SEC approvals have cleared the way for a Monday October 27th launch of the NYSE’s next-generation market model featuring advanced new trading tools supported by a revised rule set designed to maximize the NYSE's market quality and competitiveness in today's increasingly electronic trading environment. The rollout of the new Market Model will be released in phases.

Contingency Trading Exercise now Scheduled for 11/15/08

Due to Amex Integration testing scheduled for October 25th, the industry wide regional contingency trading test, which was originally planned for Saturday, October 25th, 2008 is being postponed to Saturday, November 15, 2008 This exercise is being run so that NYSE Euronext and its member firms could test their business recovery capabilities should a contingency event occur that affects the New York Metropolitan area.

NYSE/AMEX Integration - Testing Reminder

As previously announced in the September 25, 2008 Information Memo titled ‘NYSE/Amex Integration – Industry Testing', member firms were informed of Saturday industry testing opportunities, the next of which is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2008. Member Firms wishing to participate in the test must register by sending an email to relationshipmgt@nyx.com including the customer lines and entering firm mnemonics plan to use for the day of the test and a contact person at your firm (including email address and phone number).

SEC Emergency Order on Short Sales & 10b-18 Time and Volume Orders

The SEC's Emergency Order on Short Sales in securities of certain financial firms expires at 11:59 pm ET on Wednesday October 8, 2008. The SEC's Order lifting 10b-18 time and volume restrictions remains in effect until 11:59 pm ET on Friday, Octoer 17, 2008.

SEC Extends Duration of the Emergency Short Sell & 10b-18 Time and Volume Orders

The SEC issued a Press Release last night announcing the extension of its Emergency Order temporarily prohibiting short selling beyond its currently scheduled expiration. The order will now expire at 11:59 p.m. ET on the third business day after enactment of the legislation, but in any case no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct. 17, 2008.

The SEC also announced the extension of the expiration date of its Emergency Order easing 10b-18 time and volume restrictions to October 17, 2008.

CCG Enhancements Release 2.1

As previously reported CMS will be decommissioned December 31st, 2008, and new CMS lines will no longer be accepted after October 3rd, 2008. One of the last CMS releases is targeted for cutover on October 7th, 2008. In fact CCG handles over 100 million orders and reports daily accounting for nearly 75% of all NYSE traffic. The next CCG software release is scheduled for cutover on November 3rd, 2008. NYSE Euronext (NYX) Completes Acquisition of the American Stock Exchange

NYSE Euronext (NYX), the world’s leading and most diverse exchange group, today completed its acquisition of the American Stock Exchange® (Amex®), becoming the third-largest U.S. options marketplace and enhancing the company’s leadership in ETFs, cash equities, closed-end funds and structured products. The transaction is expected to produce annualized run-rate cost savings in excess of $100 million by the end of 2009 and be accretive to earnings.
